What you need to know to get your students into a US university

Dr Peter McLaughlin

Peter McLaughlin cropDr Peter McLaughlin’s workshop is aimed at exploring the intricacies and challenges of advising boys and girls applying for admission to colleges and universities in the United States. It includes advice on the pitfalls of the process and the practical steps to be taken in guiding the growing numbers of UK students applying to Ivy Leagues, liberal arts colleges and other US institutions, and what it takes to be successful in this hyper-competitive environment.

Dr Peter McLaughlin has been a university lecturer, research fellow and teacher for nearly four decades, including eighteen years as a headmaster on three continents. After an ACU postdoctoral research fellowship based at the London School of Economics, he returned to the world of the school classroom as an historian. He recently retired from the headship of The Doon School in India, which offers both the IB and Indian examinations, and as Vice President for Asia of the International Boys School Coalition. He is currently working as an educational consultant on major projects in Asia. For over twenty years he has been counselling and advising boys and girls aiming to study in the United States.
