Personal financial planning – key things you need to know and act on before it’s too late
Financial planning - particularly retirement planning - is increasingly a worry for many Heads. The progressive reductions in both the lifetime and annual allowances are thorny issues with which to contend and imminent changes to the tax treatment of property rental income may also have unexpected consequences for your pension.
In this workshop I will be seeking to demystify these issues and to provide some practical guidance on how best to manage the trade off between a higher disposable income, lower tax bills and a better retirement income. The right solutions will vary from person to person, but a key message is that a little forward planning will enable you to make informed decisions and avoid any nasty surprises!
Fundamental changes to both the State Pension and Teachers’ Pensions Scheme are also posing some strategic challenges to independent schools. I will be sharing my thoughts on the financial pressures that are likely to result and what steps might be taken now to prevent issues arising in the future.
