Independent schools add nearly £12bn yearly to UK, says research

Financial Times, 02/04/2014: Independent schools contribute £9.5 billion to the economy, larger than the City of Liverpool, says a major report out today. It also shows that every 2.1 pupils at an ISC independent school support one job in Britain - that's one in every 122 jobs. The report 'The impact of independent schools on the British economy' by global consultancy Oxford Economics also shows that independent schools generate £3.6 billion in tax, equivalent to £133 for every house in Britain.

Produced for the ISC, the report also features case studies and highlights partnerships between HMC schools and the state sector.
