New Headmistress of JAGS announced

We are very pleased to announce that Mrs Sally-Anne Huang, currently Headmistress of Kent College, Pembury, will take up the post of Headmistress at James Allen’s Girls’ School on 1 September 2015, on the retirement of Mrs Marion Gibbs CBE.

Sally-Anne said, “I am delighted to have been given the wonderful opportunity of leading JAGS from September 2015.  It is a truly special place with a unique combination of excellence, tradition and social responsibility.  Everything I have learnt and seen of the school has impressed me and I am looking forward to working with staff and governors in maintaining and building upon the work of our predecessors with an eye very much to a sustained success well into the future.  Above all, I am looking forward to meeting the girls!”

Chair of Governors, Sir Hugh Taylor, commented: “Her background and achievements to date clearly demonstrate not only her commitment to the highest academic standards, but also to the pastoral care of pupils and staff.  She is determined to ensure that our School community continues to thrive and maintain its core values of care and consideration for all and retains its many links with the wider community.”

Current Headmistress, Marion Gibbs, said, “I am thrilled that Sally-Anne Huang has been appointed as my successor at JAGS.  She is an exceptionally intelligent and clear thinking woman, who is also genuinely committed to the well-being of her students.  I have no doubt that JAGS will thrive under her care and I wish her every happiness in her new role.”

Coincidentally, Mrs Huang is also passionate about teaching Classics. She was educated at Bolton School, Lancashire and Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, where she read Classics and English. She brings to JAGS a wealth of experience in teaching both A levels and the International Baccalaureate, working at single-sex and co-educational schools and has held the posts of Housemistress and Deputy Head. Exciting times ahead! Sally-Anne and her family will have the warmest of welcomes from the whole JAGS community.
