There’s no answer to marking questions, says exam watchdog

The Times, 14/02/2014: Marking of A-level and GCSE exams can never be completely accurate and marks allocated to similar scripts will be subject to “legitimate variations”, the qualifications regulator says. In a report published today, Ofqual said it would develop a common system to measure reliability and accuracy of marking across subjects, but this would take time. It comes after a high profile campaign by HMC to shine a light on failings in the quality of exam marking.
