Independent Professional Development (IPD)
IPD is the joint professional development service of HMC and the Girls' Schools Association (GSA) and provides a broad range of high quality training opportunities to members across the two associations.

Independent Schools Council (ISC)
ISC, of which HMC is a founder member, was first established (as the Independent Schools Joint Council) in 1974 by the major governors', heads' and bursars' associations of independent schools. It exits to represent the interests of the associations and their member schools to government and its agencies, to politicians of all parties, to the media and other opinion-formers. It issues regular guidance and information to member schools on a wide variety of political, legal, educational and practical issues. Queries from parents and the general public about independent schools or independent school education in general should be directed to ISC.

Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI)
ISI is responsible for inspecting the 1,200 independent schools in England in membership of the Independent Schools Council. Its authority as a body under Statute comes from the Secretary of State for Education and Skills. It is professionally independent of the Independent Schools Council (ISC). ISI's primary duty is to promote and safeguard the welfare and education of children in the schools which it inspects, through inspections which are rigorous, careful, objective, and without bias.
