Curriculum development

Reviewing the Post - 16 curriculum

Project description

A working party set up to do the following:

  • To review the various options for study post-16 and identify the strengths and weaknesses of each option (A-levels, IB, Pre-U, Highers);
  • To review the 'intellectual experience' offered by the option pursued at UCS and identify ways in which it could be developed by (i) offering further subject choice and (ii) providing opportunities for 'intellectual enrichment'.
  • To produce recommendations for Heads of Department/Academic Boards concerning the medium term direction of post-16 education at UCS as well as a clear strategy for intellectual enrichment post-16.
  • To identify aspects of 11-16 curriculum which need to be received as a follow-on working party from this one.

Benefits

To provide a stimulating, wide ranging and thought provoking academic/intellectual experience for all students in the UCS sixth form to equip them not just for university study but for an intellectual fulfilling life.
