Effective monitoring of teaching and learning

Project description

At the heart of the strategy is a detailed focus on individuals, pupils and teachers.

For pupils a networked reporting system, readily accessible at hundreds of computers across the campus, provides regular information on all boys; staff meetings discuss all problems of underperformance; an outstanding Learning Support department reinforces teaching in all subjects.

For teachers, an annual double appraisal, regular lesson observations, focus on the primacy of teaching performance; comprehensive induction teaches high expectations from the start.

The ISI Report on Radley in 2002 found it to be in the forefront of independent schools in this area.

Benefits

The aim is to avoid people failing; many pupils and staff have been nursed and improved to perform outstandingly well and to exceed expectations.
