A Design Technology teacher, inspired by the Chelsea Flower
Show, set a Year 11 group the after-school task of designing
a 'small garden' for a flower show. Using the school's strong
musical heritage and drawing on architectural features of
the school (clock tower, Victorian paving slabs, etc) the
pupils came up with a 'St Edmund's Music Garden' theme.
The design was accepted as an entry at the RHS Hampton Court
Palace Flower Show and won a Bronze medal. The garden was
'manned' by pupils, staff, and parents. The project was
part-funded by sponsorship and fundraising activity at the
school.

(to pupils, school, others)
Good school publicity in media and at the show. Co-operation
between teaching and support staff, pupils, and parents.
The fundraising led to fun events at School and the pupils
and staff involved were all 'lifted' by the experience.
