The aim is to ensure good and safe practice while encouraging
off-site visits and expeditions.
The appointment of an Educational Visits Co-ordinator has
brought significant developments in the procedures for planning
and conducting visits and expeditions.
All staff are issued with detailed guidelines and there
is a regular review of procedures. Proposed visits must
gain 'Approval in Principle' and Financial Approval before
parents are communicated with. All communications are checked
in an effort to ensure that parents are fully informed before
giving their consent.
Visits are finally approved once risk assessments have
been checked and all other requirements are in place. Generic
risk assessments offer staff further assistance. There are
also guidelines for overseas visits and expeditions. Feedback
is formalised.
