Norfolk Oxbridge Access (NOA) summer school

This full access partnership summer school initiative was designed to encourage under-represented groups in Norfolk to raise their aspirations and dispel myths surrounding Oxbridge.

Financially supported through continuing Aim Higher and Specialist Schools Trust Funding. Our close partnership with Notre Dame High School, Norwich - a state Catholic Secondary School enabled us to access the two DfES funding bodies.

94 students from 15 Norfolk school and college sixth-forms attended this summer.

The program combines rigorous classroom activity in the candidates chosen subject, with cultural enrichment (for instance using theatre visits), eminent speakers and tailored and appropriate workshops. The emphasis is on small classes, individual attention and innovative teaching methods which create an immediacy and excitement about learning such that students are inspired to new levels of performance.

It is hoped that the challenge of the academic work and the rich array of extension activities help students develop the best in themselves whilst building a foundation for their college years and beyond.

Dons and Scholars from both Oxford and Cambridge and teachers with the personality and passion to teach high-achieving students are used to tutor the course.
