HMC Professional Development Programme 2023-2024

We are pleased to share with you the HMC Professional Development Programme for 2023-2024. The programme supports development across the spectrum of roles in HMC schools; with a focus on preparing for aspirational roles and developing within existing roles.

We will be bringing new courses and Professional Development opportunities onstream during the course of the academic year, responding to themes and issues as they arise; please do register for HMC Professional Development Updates here, to ensure you don’t miss these.

We have recently launched the CPD network for colleagues leading on CPD in their schools; please do join this peer-to-peer network by registering here.

HMCPD courses for the 2023-24 academic year are now available to register via the Courses and Events menu. You can register via the website or contact [email protected]. Whilst our provision seeks to support colleagues in HMC schools, many of our courses are available to other colleagues working in education.

Our popular ISQAM (Independent Schools Qualification in Academic Management) and PLQ (Pastoral Leadership Qualification) courses continue to run face to face but with the addition of an online option at every level. Please note that our ISQAM, PLQ and Aspiring Heads’ programmes are closed for this academic year. We will open bookings for 2024-25 on 22 May 2024. Courses Overview

Courses and Conferences are organised in six sections: events for those Preparing for Middle Leadership (PML), those interested in Developing Middle Leadership (DML), those focusing on Preparing for Senior Leadership (PSL), those interested in Developing Senior Leadership (DSL), those who are Preparing for Headship (PH) and those interested in Developing Headship (DH).

This approach reflects HMC’s commitment to support leadership development at all levels in HMC schools. The domains offer, at the same time, support for those interested in career progression through the six stages of the HMC ‘Leadership Journey’ and professional development opportunities for those wishing to develop their professional practice further.
