With over 30 years of international educational expertise, Doha College has been invited by the Qatar Government's Supreme Education Council (SEC) to open a brand new primary campus in the popular West Bay area of Doha thanks to its accreditations and reputation.
Doha College is recognised as a leading international school and has worked closely with the SEC since its inception in 2009. This strong relationship meant that when the SEC looked to invite an outstanding school to open a primary school in one of its purpose built state of the art campuses; Doha College was a natural choice. This new primary school will offer an additional 670 primary places.
Doha College is one of the oldest British secondary schools in the MENA (Middle East & North Africa) Region. The college’s recent accreditations by the British Schools in the Middle East (BSME )and the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the full inspection by the UK Department for Education British Schools Overseas (BSO) last year certainly played a part in which school the SEC chose to invite to take on this exciting project.
Doha College was awarded the highest “outstanding” standard from the BSO inspection, and together with the BSME and CIS accreditations, these form part of the college’s vision to be recognised as one of the leading international schools in the world. Expansion of the college will allow more students to access a high quality educational experience and will support Qatar in providing more school places to its increasing population.
Qatar has a booming economy with significant growth in all sectors; partly due to the fast approaching Qatar 2022 Football World Cup as well as Qatar’s ambitious Qatar 2030 National Vision which provides a framework to ensure that Qatar sustains its own development and provides a high standard of living for its entire people for generations to come. With this growth comes an unprecedented demand for school places, both from the qatari and expatriate communities.
Mark Leppard, Principal was delighted to announce this exciting news; "this is an excellent opportunity for Doha College to offer a further 670 primary places to the Qatar community.
It is a very challenging project as it is only in March that the SEC approached the college to discuss the viability of opening a new school for September 2013.
We have a very demanding few months ahead of us, but with the team of staff we have, I am confident that this challenge will be a huge success".
