On the publication of the Sutton Trust Mobility manifesto, Mike Buchanan, Executive Director of HMC said:
“HMC welcomes the continuing focus of the Sutton Trust on extending educational opportunity and excellence to all.
“HMC members are already doing much to support the legitimate aspirations of individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds in their areas through thousands of academic and other interactions, as well as providing places in their schools.
“HMC members stand ready to contribute further to extending opportunities such as those being provided in the Cheltenham Education Partnership and other area-wide collaborations across the country.
“HMC has been a long-standing supporter of individualised, contextual admissions to higher education. We agree that there needs to be more transparency, consistency and better quality, individual indicators.
“HMC has consistently proposed providing free-to-parent places in our schools and look to the next government to work with us on how this might be achieved in a sustainable way so that access to the superb education available at our schools is opened up to even more disadvantage children and young people.”
