Responding to the announcement by Ofqual of its consultation into Teacher involvement in developing exam papers and other confidential assessments, Dr William Richardson, General Secretary of HMC, said:
“In common with all those involved in public examinations, HMC condemns any malpractice by exam question-setters. Cases are very rare and our schools act quickly and decisively. We acknowledge however the serious damage to confidence that such instances cause.
“The comprehensive seven-point plan announced today will bring improved safeguards across all those institutions that administer public examinations. HMC schools look forward to working with our colleagues to ensure even greater rigour and probity.”
