Exhibitor Profile – Operation Wallacea – HMC Autumn Conference 2019
|Company Name:||Operation Wallacea|
|Contact Name:||Helen Clark|
Operation Wallacea runs a series of conservation management research programmes that operate in remote locations across the world. These expeditions are designed with specific conservation aims in mind – from identifying areas needing protection, through to implementing and assessing conservation management programmes. The surveys have resulted in publications in peer-reviewed journals, and $2million levered from funding agencies to set up best practice management examples at study sites.
Sixth form groups can join our biodiversity survey expeditions accompanied by teachers from their school. School groups collect data for at least part of their expedition which helps with the research objectives and publications for the site. They will have the opportunity to work with different field scientists and learn about different species and survey techniques. They will also take part in lectures providing background information about the habitats they are surveying, which are tied into many of the concepts learned in environmental studies.
