Hampton School has been working with Sixth Form pupils from six local partnership state schools offering support across eight academic subjects – helping to prepare them for next year’s exams and university applications.
Lower Sixth Form pupils from Reach Academy, Waldegrave School, Marylebone Boys’ School, Teddington School, Tolworth Girls’ School and Orleans Park School have been attending ‘virtual’ extension classes in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Maths, Psychology, Religious Studies, History, Geography, and English.
Hampton School Head, Kevin Knibbs, feels that it is especially important to provide support for this particular year group of pupils.
“The current Lower Sixth year group has been significantly affected by the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic upon their studies,” he said. “By offering these digital extension classes, we hope to help young people from our partner schools to fulfil their potential in their A Level exams and university applications. Happily, the online format has enabled us to increase substantially the number of pupils attending each session.”
Hampton School’s partnership work also extends to working with many state primary schools.
Lion Learning is an inspiring and fun learning programme designed in close collaboration with Heads from several of the school’s local partner primary schools.
The Lion Learning programme is free of charge and enables boys and girls from eight local state primary schools to explore English, Maths, Philosophy, and Science through a range of exciting activities and lessons led by subject specialist teachers from Hampton School.
In addition, Hampton School’s Fourth Years have also been supporting pupils in partner state schools. Over the past six months they have been helping to run regular virtual weekly chess sessions with local Hampton Hill Junior School pupils.
“Hampton Hill Junior School has always benefited from a fabulous relationship with Hampton School,” said Hampton Hill Head, Alan Went.
“We have a long running and very positive chess link between the two schools which has proved very supportive to our aspirational and enthusiastic young chess players. The fact that this has been able to continue, even during the uncertain times we currently find ourselves in is great testament to all concerned. Such a great opportunity for our children.”
