School Profile

Kimbolton is a co-educational day and boarding school located in Cambridgeshire but close to the borders of Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire and within reach of north London.  We educate over 1050 boys and girls between the ages of 4 and 18, with an almost even split between boys and girls.  Boarding starts at age 11.

Our Preparatory (Prep) School is located at one end of Kimbolton village and caters for children between 4 and 11;  our Senior School is based in Kimbolton Castle, roughly half a mile away at the opposite end of our 120 acres of stunning parkland and playing fields.

We are very much one school: the curricula of the Prep and Senior Schools are aligned; our warm, caring ethos starts at the Reception Year and continues through to the Upper Sixth; some of our staff teach at both the Prep and Senior Schools; some of our events attract the whole school community; and the vast majority of our Prep School pupils continue their education at the Senior School.

Our boarders are at the heart of our school community and are fully integrated with the day pupils.  The boarding houses are located on Kimbolton\'s picturesque High Street but back onto our grounds, giving the boarders easy access to the village shops and facilities.  At weekends they can use the school facilities, spend time with day pupil friends or participate in our programme of weekly trips and visits away from the school campus.  These range from shopping and cinema trips to theme parks and London shows.

We are fortunate to have such a wonderful setting and fantastic facilities, but it is our inclusive, family atmosphere of which we are most proud.  Visitors always comment on the very friendly yet purposeful feel of our school, the way that the boys and girls have a genuine affinity and care for each other.  Against this backdrop, we challenge them all to achieve their potential and to develop into interesting, rounded young adults who are well-equipped for the modern world.
