School Profile

Shiplake College is an independent boarding and day school for boys aged 11 to 18 and girls from 16 to 18. Full, weekly and flexi boarding is available from 11+ (Year 7). The College is situated in an inspirational rural site on the banks of the river, just outside Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire.

Shiplake provides a friendly, supportive and structured environment to bring out the best in each and every pupil. Renowned for outstanding pastoral care and personal development, the College welcomes pupils with a variety of skills and talents, who have the potential and attitude to make the most of the many opportunities offered to them. We provide an education that is tailored to the individual and we do this through engaging teaching, delivered in small classes where our teachers can know and understand each pupil’s method of learning.

In addition to a strong academic foundation, which has seen a greater focus on academic rigour in recent years, we offer excellent sporting, artistic and co-curricular opportunities. Afternoons are reserved for an array of sports, clubs and activities, including a comprehensive outdoor education programme, with pupils encouraged to extend their horizons and experience new challenges and responsibilities. We focus on the overall development of our pupils and pride ourselves on our ability to ‘add value’ to each pupil’s education, both in and outside the classroom. A Shiplake education equips pupils with key interpersonal qualities, identified in the Shiplake Seven, which help instil and develop the skills required to enable young people to compete successfully in their chosen career.
