The King\'s School, Canterbury is an independent, co-educational secondary school. There are currently 823 pupils on the school roll, of whom 637 are boarders.
The School has a long and distinguished History, and it is also one of the oldest charities in the country, providing scholarships and bursaries to pupils and organising a Charity of the Term. The School is fortunate in its magnificent setting, and the School Tour provides a guide to the buildings, which are mostly in the Cathedral Precincts and at the St Augustine’s site.
The Academic side of the School is central, and exam results are excellent. Extra-curricular activities are also important, particularly sport, music and drama. Through the house system, the chaplaincy and in other ways, the School pays particular attention to Pastoral Care.
At the heart of a King’s education is the dual pursuit of academic and extra-curricular excellence. The self-discipline, intellect and wide-ranging interests that such a pursuit engenders are highly prized in our modern global society. The quality of the teaching and the breadth of the activities outside the classroom mean that the lessons learnt and the skills acquired stay with the pupil for life.
