Shaun Dellenty has worked as class teacher, school leader, governor and education consultant. He serves as an independent national lead on positive LGBT+ inclusion in education and is a member of the Parliamentary LGBT Network. In 2016 Shaun was honoured by the Prime Minister for services to LGBT+ and education communities and was named ‘Education Champion’ at the Excellence In Diversity Awards.
A survivor of child-hood homophobic bullying; in 2009 in response to homophobia in his own school, Shaun devised a pioneering training programme for schools and initial teacher training faculties ‘Inclusion For All’ intended to facilitate cultural change to prevent LGBT+ bullying. Achieving acclaimed results Shaun’s work made the national press, resulting in work with teacher unions, faith groups, human rights and anti-bullying organisations, governmental departments, local authorities and training for hundreds of schools. Shaun is an inspirational speaker, recounting his inspirational journey to many thousands of young people.
Shaun is currently supporting the entire Isle of Man education community to become LGBT+ inclusive. He will also be speaking in Cologne later this month. Shaun’s work is recommended by the Church of England, Amnesty UK and has won multiple awards. Shaun was shortlisted ‘Positive LGBT Role Model’ at the National Diversity Awards 2018.
