HMC highlights the efforts of schools to help others during the pandemic

HMC General Secretary Ian Power has highlighted the often unsung efforts of HMC schools to help others during the pandemic. He said:

“Top independent schools know their pupils are lucky to have had a really good education online and have stepped up to help others who are less fortunate.

“As well as working full time during lockdown teaching their own and key workers’ children, some are offering to help deliver summer schools for disadvantaged pupils, or give space so state schools can bring more children back.

“Over a hundred of our schools have made tens of thousands of pieces of PPE for health workers, whilst others have shared online lessons, distributed computers and dongles and acted as contact zones for vulnerable people.

“They aren’t expecting praise but do it because it’s the right thing.”
