Alumni of the DfE’s Broadening Educational Pathways scheme will join Ali Henderson, RNCSF’s CEO, Martin Boulton, High Master of Manchester Grammar School and Steffan Griffiths, Head Master of Norwich School in discussion about how HMC schools can get involved in supporting better outcomes for children in care.
RNCSF is working with more than 200 HMC schools to embed priority access for care-experienced children to bursary and partnership schemes. Evidence of the significant value that the scheme offers – both in raising attainment and preserving care stability – led to the DfE’s announcing the scheme’s extension to at least Sept 2027 earlier this year.
Four HMC regions are now co-funding BEP Regional Hub Coordinators to embed this further at a regional level. HMC schools are invited to learn more about how to operationalise the scheme in their own school at this workshop, including through listening to the impact on individual care-experienced young people who have recently completed their bursary placements.
